About The MupidTM Electrophoresis DNA/RNA
Midori Green dyes are a safer alternative to the traditional nucleic acid stain Ethidium Bromide, used to detect nucleic acid fragments in agarose gels. These newly developed dyes are non-carcinogenic and according to the Ames test they cause significantly lower mutation rates than Ethidium Bromide.
The MupidTM Electrophoresis System and LED Illuminator are designed to increase safety, ease of use and results for gel electrophoresis. The MupidTM One is “multi-sample” suitable. The system and all of its accessories are compatible with multi-channel pipettes. The buffer drains into the two corners of the system, making it safer and easier to dispose the running buffer. To further increase the safety, the system only operates when the two parts are combined correctly.
The MupidTM One LED illuminator is the ideal system when using the MupidTM Electrophoresis system and the Midori Green dyes. The MupidTM One LED illuminator can replace the lid of the MUPIDTM One electrophoresis system and allows for detection of DNA fragments during the run. To keep the operator safe, the illuminator is equipped with an orange colored filter. Even when using other dyes, such as SYBR, the LED illuminator can be used. The sensitivity of the system is at 2ng of DNA.
If you are not using the MupidTM One electrophoresis system, but do have the need to visualize your DNA fragment during the run, Nippon Genetics provides the FastGene Blue/Green Flashlight. The Flashlight can be used even for the detection of GFP-transfections without the use of UV-light, making the Flashlight a very safe alternative to traditionally used UV-lights. Simply place the flashlight in the holder and your gel on the board. Cutting out your bands can now be done anytime and anywhere.
